Snowflakes are falling

This is the closest I'll get to having snow at Christmas - making my own snowflake cookies!

I made these cookies for my Mentor Teachers as I was on prac in early December. I'm studying my Bachelor of Early Education and I love to give gifts when I finish prac.  I also gave the class some new books to read.

I was trialing a new kind of instant royal icing - it's available in the baking section of Woolworths and you just have to add water and stir.  Normally I make my icing with sifted icing mixture, egg whites and lemon juice.  It's not too bad in a pinch, but I don't think it sets as hard as I'm used to, and it doesn't set in the required time.

I did the snowflakes up in cellophane bags and sprinkled some granulated sugar in.  The girls loved them - along with the other chocolate treats and bonbons that I put in their Christmas bags.

I want to wish all my visitors a very Merry Christmas!! I hope you got spoiled today - I'm resting after a lovely family lunch, in the air con, watching Christmas movies.
