Back to School

I can't believe the school holidays are just about over.  Here in Australia our school year is Jan-Dec, so the kids have been off for about 8-9 weeks enjoying time off.  We've travelled to Brisbane, enjoyed family, crafted, BBQ'd, swam, beached and played at the park all the way through, but now it's time to go back.  On the 27th of January Sophia will start Grade 1 and Amber will start Grade 9.

I always make a first day gift for the girls' teachers (well I haven't made one for Amber for a while now), and this will be the card that goes with the gift.  The stationery is part of Sophia's school pack that they provide - I just have to name, label and contact everything!  Ah the joys.
I used a Whimsie Doodles image for this card (and it's free!) and coloured it in with my Copics.  I glossed up her little head band and Stickled up her wings.  I also used a tiny star button and a silver gel pen for the metal part of the pencil.  There's also some Liquid Pearls dotted around.  I layered the image on school themed papers, twine and tape measure washi.

I've included this card in the following challenges:
Left of Centre Challenge - Layer it up
The Crafting Cafe - Lots of layers
Fussy & Fancy Challenge - Things with wings
Cute Card Thursday - Colourful
Aloha Friday Challenge - Scraps (all the papers were found in my scrap stash!)
