Circle Explosion Album

Or Circle Pop-Up Book if you like - I found the inspiration for this little project from Shana Banana over at SB.com. She was wondering if there was a template for this kind of album - well I'd never heard of one before so did a little Googling. I only found 2 and none of them came with instructions - simply that they were to be used in a class. I finally found one over at Split Coast Stampers and decided that I would give it a go - it really is simple! I've also decided for all my readers to create my own tutorial to make it easier for everyone to create one of their own! Why go searching around the internet when I've done it for you! So what's a Circle Explosion Album? Here have a look! This is what it looks like closed and tied up:
This is what it looks like open!

I'm so pleased with how it came out. I'm used to having 3D elements and ribbons sticking all out - but it's a little difficult with this album because there simply isn't the room for it all once it's folded up. I used passport sized photos (the kind where you print 9 photos per sheet), lots of Doodlebug sparkly stickers, Bazzill cardstock and plenty of scraps of pp! I matted each photo to help it stand out against the patterns. Okay so you want to give it a try - here's the tutorial:

Hi Sarah: I like your tutorial and used it to create a few of these albums myself. I didn't glue the sections together totally so I could slip in a tag. What I did is on my blog: http://oh-for-joy.blogspot.com/2009/11/circle-explosion-album_27.html

Thanks for the inspiration.

Hello - I'm so glad I found your tutorial!! I like how you can watch it as a video or a slide show...great idea!

I saw this idea in the Valentine Magnolia Ink magazine at Barnes and Noble yesterday however they didn't explain how to make the mini :( I knew it would be perfect for a co-workers birthday card that I have to have done by Wednesday EEEK!!
