There's jelly in my bath!

Okay so this started out as a little bit of fun, and has turned into a public service announcement! If your child or children want to fill your bath with Gelli Baff - a solution that turns ordinary clean bathwater into colourful sludge in 5 minutes - then proceed with caution!

My first shock was the fact that this stuff costs $12.99 per box (but Amber bought it with her Nanna money) - the second shock was that this box was FOR ONE BATH ONLY. I couldn't believe it! You get one sachet of powder to turn the bath into jelly, then another smaller sachet to turn the jelly back to water (before letting it go down the drain). Then upon reading more of the instructions - you only use 6 centimeters of water with said packet of jelly solution. 6 CENTIMETERS! Good gosh you would be lucky to wash a cat in that! Any who, we followed the instructions to the letter, waited 5 minutes for it all to go jelly, then as per instructions I was allowed to add a little more water (I added 2 more centimeters). Then Amber jumped in.

Apart from the fact that Amber looks just plain funny - the bath water was really warm, but felt really bizarre - you could pick up chunks, smack the top and not hit the bottom, and when Amber tried to slide around - got nowhere! I have to add here that we had the exhaust fan and every window open down this end of the house because this stuff is really potent! The smell was not offensive, but quite overwhelming (they don't put that on the packaging!).

After about 45 minutes of play, Amber losing several toys, and then me finding out that she had coated the entire bathroom walls and floor with the stuff - it was time to get out. Now according to the box all you have to do is sprinkle in the small white sachet of powder and all the jelly dissolves - YEAH RIGHT! I have had that stuff "dissolving" for about 30 minutes now and I can still feel chunks in the water. It's also not easy to wipe off walls, floors, mats, toys and anything else the jelly lands on. I resorted to trying to pour clean water on anything I could. Oh and your kids have to get out of the bath (COATED IN JELLY), before adding the white sachet - hence the reason I have jelly all over my floor! Amber had to walk to the shower. Now if the photos arn't enough - we did a little video..

I have never heard of this and boy I hope my 8 year old doesn't - it sounds like it is a bit more than I want to experience. Call me the old dull MOM! LOL!!! Great post!

LOL! Thanks for the warning!!! We'll stick to water. But...that might be fun for preschoolers in a sensory/water table!

It looks fun, perhaps easier if used outside in a small pool :) Our baths don't look like that in the US...the faucet and knobs are out of place in your bath :) Very neat to see.
