Challenge Catch-up....

Oh I've been neglecting my challenges - even the one's I've set!! So here are some favourites:

Music that reminds me.....

Pink Floyd - couldn't for the life of me understand why I hated listening to his music until mum enlightened me. Turns out someone (that's no longer in my life) used to play it constantly when I was very little. Funny how your subconcious remembers things that you don't!

Roxette - It Must Have Been Love - reminds me of the skating rink back home! It was playing all the time (somewhere in 1991 - I was grade 8)

Roxette - Almost Unreal. It was the end song for Super Mario Bros. the movie. I listened to that song all over Fraser Island in 1995. My family was on a camping trip. I believe it was a "cass-single" oh how old am I?

Billy Joel - We Didn't Start The Fire - this has to be the very first song I heard and started taking notice of music. I used to listen to it on my radio, Rock 40 on a Saturday night. Yes I used to tape my favourite songs each week too!

Def Leppard - When Love & Hate Collide - I was listening to this song while sitting on a plane leaving New Zealand. My family had been back for a holiday in 1995. I wondered when I would be back again - I'm still wondering.....

Bryan Adams - 18 Til I Die - Jas, who was my boyfriend way back then, put a Bryan Adams CD in his stereo (I was looking after it, while I was still living at home), he had it set to this song to wake me up on my 18th birthday!

REM - Everybody Hurts - this song came out sometime around when I lost my cousin in a car accident. It took me years to be able to listen to this song without getting upset.

Savage Garden - I Want You - I used to hear this song, belting out of Jason's car when ever he came to visit! Yep you'd hear him before you see him. Doof Doof Doof

There's probably a ton more, I tend to remember when I here them and think - hey that's perfect for the challenge!

Improving Challenge:

I'm pretty sure my scrapbooking has improved. I went from a single (non refillable) album of Amber's first 12 months to a ring binder full of pages. My original style was simply to stick the photos down, and then add die cuts or borders. I tended to embellish with my own doodling or writing. Here's a little looksie:

Okay so one of my photos just wouldn't upload correctly, but it was basically photos with a sticker in the corner. These ones have handmade and pieced embellies. I doodled, used decorative scissors and matting. The top layout was paper pieced and doodled around to look like stitching. There were no scrapbooking stores anywhere in 2001, I had to use paper from the newsagents and then the chemist started stocking diecuts of Tweety Bird. I used them and some borders. This is why I'm having a hard time decided whether or not to redo Amber's album, so that it's the same style as Sophia's. I don't want her to think that she missed out.

I also think my parenting style has improved. I'm not so stressed, and will actually stand up for myself when people give unwanted advice on my children.

I am loving your list of music! It brought back great memories! I also really love your old school scrapbook pages. I think they are fabulous, and I think you should keep them the same, and just make a redo of pictures that you want to. It'll be fun to see the different styles later on!
