Seal of approval

Earlier this year I was given a Ravenclaw seal and two wax sticks.  I didn't have a reason to use it until today - so I got crafting and had the most fun making this scene.

First up I used the envelope template from My Scrap Chick.  I traced and cut out the pieces and then created my envelope.  It even has a patterned liner.  When the envelope is closed, it's actually about 4-5mm thick, which is perfect for chunky cards to be mailed in.  I know I will be getting a lot of use out of this template.  I wrapped the envelope in some twine, and then melted blue and silver wax over the crossed string.  Carefully I sat the embossed weight on top and let it sit for a few minutes.  The seal turned out perfect, so I accented the image with some silver marker.  It gave the seal the perfect finishing touch.

To add to the scene, I also created a stand alone letter "R" for Ravenclaw.  Using a template from My Scrap Chick I cut out the pieces, but instead of using a bold shape on the front, I cut the shape a little smaller and then cut out the inside to create the outline, which gave the perfect touch of yellow to the letter I was after.  Here are some photos below.

This is the letter with the seal, and my beautiful new Foxy Fix travellers notebook.

You can see the letter "R" in the background, and Luna Lovegood looks over the letter from Hogwarts with Ravenclaw Prefect badge.  You can see the lining of the envelope too.

Here is my scene with Hedwig on her perch of books, newspapers, Quidditch flag and Luna.  The Ravenclaw seal and wax stamp.  You can also see my hair bow in there too.

What a great tip! I love making envelopes for thicker cards and have a hard time fastening them. What a pretty way to meet that challenge! Thanks for sharing at Jo's Scrap Shack!
