The Mary Poppins Festival

After all our preparation, the day finally arrived! We travelled just over 3 hours to the town of Maryborough - the birth place of Mary Poppins' author P L Travers.

The festival was huge.  There was Mary Poppins music, people dressed in costume of all ages, vintage cars, arts and crafts, fair rides, markets and a vintage pram race!

The excitement started when we spotted the traffic lights which have been changed to Mary Poppins outlines for STOP and WALK! The street was even named Cherry Tree Lane.  Electrical boxes were painted beautifully and there were chalk drawings on the ground.

The festival was held near the Mary River, and these big painted letters were all around the.  As the festival progressed over 2 weeks, the letters were collected to create Mary Poppins (hence why a couple of Ps are missing lol)

We enjoyed seeing Mary's statue and playing with the umbrella and carpet bag sillouette on the wall of a cafe.  It was such a beautiful day for a festival - it was a little crisp with a breeze, but so sunny and full of cheer.

As we were walking around the festival, we spotted a penguin, lots of vintage cars and we admired the gorgeous old building around Queen's Park.  There were train and ferry rides, actors and singers and lots of little dogs.

We learned that the Mary Poppins festival is on every year, and fully plan on going again next year!

I created my digi layouts with the help of Kate Hadfield templates and Chim Cheree digi kit from Natalie's Place Designs.
