Dragon Babies

It's Team Trace's turn this week over at Southern Girls Challenge Blog, and we're turning up the Retro with a new challenge - use an actual punch!

Our sponsors this week are Wild Orchid Crafts and Lacy Sunshine.  I chose this gorgeous image of a baby dragon called Dragaisy Dragon Flower Pot Hatchling which is part of a gorgeous collection of Flowerpot Hatchlings.

I printed 2 copies of the image and coloured the dragon and flower on one and then the rest of the image on the other.  I layered the dragon on 3D foam tape to give the illusion that the dragon was indeed popping out of the pot.  I coloured her up with my Copics and then encrusted the egg with gems, added clear stickles to the dragon and tiny black gems to the wings.  There's also orange stickles in the centre of the flowers.

I very rarely go without my patterned paper on cards, but I really wanted the colour and image to be the focus.  So I doodled around the edges and added a doily under the image.  I put a simple strip of blue cardstock down and then punch 2 butterflies to flutter on top.  If you pinch the sides of the wings, they sit up nicely.

I have added my card to the following challenges:

Ike's World - Anything goes (w)
Unicorn Challenge Blog - Special occasion (m)
Creative Moments - Anything goes (2w)
Crafting by Design - Anything goes (m)
Craftaholics R Us - Spring Colours or flowers (m)

  11. Utterly LOVE this Sarah! Your photo with the sweet ceramic dragons is perfect!! Such a gorgeous image and the way you've coloured it is stunning! Love the 'no pattern paper' approach, as it really lets the image shine. Nailed it chicka! Hugs, Wends xoxo
