The little world of Poe

I had totally planned to join in every day of the blog hop, but children returning to a new school year, Uni and illness decided to take priority.

So in the dead of the night, when everyone was in bed, and nothing was bothering me except for a kitty who wanted to sprawl all over my desk - I made a Poe Lantern.

I used My Scrap Chick's Village Card to create a little village.  I cut them out with scissors as a line of houses, then glued the ends together to create a circle.

I made a white card cylinder, slightly smaller than the village and filled it with LED lights.  They're on a copper wire, so really easy to work with, and then fit neatly under the rim of the glass lid.

I printed Poe quotes and glued them around the cylinder.

I picked up the the candle holder from Spotlight, and thought it made a great cloche and stand.  As soon as I saw the little village template, I new what I was going to make.

The top of the cloche has artificial leaves, black and silver fibers, a foam ghost, die-cut black skulls and foam candelabra - all received in my pocket letter swaps.

The LEDs give off a gentle glow as the quotes sworl around the centre pillar.  I added acetate bats, and I made some acetate books that are also glued in place.

At the bottom is the village - all cut with my craft knife and scissors.  I also added some Poe-fernalia - headstones, cat, book, graveyard & Poe head.  There's also a tiny skull.  Around the bottom of the glass lid is stamping and more black and silver fibers.

The bottom of the stand is wrapped in blood spattered organza ribon and finished off with a title - Edgar Allan Poe.
