A new school year

The new school year started today, and this year our teacher for Grade 3 LOVES Star Wars!!! I don't know if I was more excited or Sophia! She has all sorts of stuffies and ornaments on her desk and she said that she's going to smuggle in her lifesized Yoda.

Every year I create something special for our new teacher - normally it's school themed, but this year I went with our favourite theme.

First up I made a terrarium - I got an awesome deal on the jar, gravel, and pebbles at Spotlight, then added some artificial succulents, cactus, and green moss.  Lastly I popped Rey in there - I got her at Target.  I went with artificial plants so that our new teacher doesn't have to worry about watering it, it's totally un-killable lol.

This is the card - two different greens and a stripy gold strip card on black.  The cute clipart is from MelonHeadz Clipart. I added some gloss to each of the separate images, they are also raised on glue dots.

You can see the layers a little better here.  The sentiment is also raised in the middle for dimension.

The outside of the card says "May the force be with you" and on the inside I put "and if that doesn't work, use a throat hug" - which refers to Darth Vader.

I added a ribbon and Darth Vader paperclip too.

I have joined the following challenges:

  5. Oh Sarah, you made me laugh with Star Wars. My best friend 51 adores it goes to see each movie 2 - 3 times. Thank goodness she lives in London and doesn't ask me to go with her. Yes our school year starts next week, back to boarding school for my boys on 31st. Love your card especially your great colours and embellishments. Thanks so much for sharing your work with us over at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge and good luck.
