A Christmas Wreath for Your Door

I always have a wreath on my front door at Christmas, and when I was sent these straws, I knew straight away I had to make a Christmas wreath - it's very much like the one I made for Halloween.

I started off with a donut shape, that I glued the straws around.  I used 15 straws that I cut in half.  I worked in opposites to ensure that all the straws were spaced evenly (one at the top, one at the bottom, one at the left, one to the right etc).  Then I added some grosgrain ribbon.  I created a cone with red Bazzill cardstock and added some soft white feathers to the base and the top, then glued the cone to the wreath using my hot glue gun.

I decorated around the hat with die cuts that I found in my stash and Tanya Leigh Designz project life cards.  One I topped with an acetate snowflake and diecut, the other I trimmed so I just had Ho Ho Ho left.

These wreaths are super fun and easy to make, and perfect for dressing up a door or wall.

Here is a side view, so you can see how the hat sits on the wreath.  You can also see how I rippled the ribbon for decorative effect.  The feathers come as a boa that you trim to a desired length.  The die cut shapes and letters are actually stickers that I hot glued to the wreath.

The project life cards are printed on matte photo paper and have a lovely shine.  They're easy to adapt to any project, and here I have distressed the edges as I would any other cardstock.
