I love trees, my blog is named after a tree and trees help us to breath, purify the air and give us food and shade. When I was asked to create this project for a friend I jumped at the chance (and now I might just have to make myself one!)
She originally saw this idea on Etsy, but coming from America it was going to take too long to get here, as it was a gift for her mum.
This piece of art is made on burlap-like paper. This way I could guarantee that it would stay in place and not sag over time. Then raised on 3D foam dots is the tree, which has the words to "Smiley" by Ronnie Burns. Each heart has the name of a family member and is attached to a tree branch by black satin ribbon. I then found the perfect frame in Big W, which fits a 12X12 layout perfectly, and the layers are not squashed because it's a box frame. I'm really pleased with how this turned out. Here's a different view:
You can see the layers a little easier here. The large heart is also raised on 3D foam dots. The tree was drawn free-hand over the words and then cut out.
