Nearly the end of BBQ weather

So here is Australia it's nearly the end of BBQ season - well actually if you're a die-hard fan any weather is BBQ weather, but in our family, if you can't sit out on your patio comfortably without freezing then it's time to pack it away.  I am hoping to remidy this problem though by installing a fire outside so the girls and I can roast marshmallows and hubby and I can sit around it and enjoy the glow.

Recently the US and possibly other countries celebrated Fathers Day - we don't celebrate until September, but that didn't stop me making my dear dad a card.

This little digi image from Doodle Pantry and sentiment was just perfect for my dad - he loves to eat everything burnt!  His toast has to be burnt, his meat, even mum's thongs (flip-flops) that were resting UNDER the BBQ one lunch time, but that's another story!  Any way dad loves things burnt so I had a ton of fun creating this card which was totally HIM.

I started off with a sketch from The Sweet Stop (SSS121) - I just lurve sketches!!  I used the colours in the digi to plan my theme.  I went with some yellows, oranges and green, and of course some black - cause burnt is the theme of this card!!  I added a little ribbon, some black bling and a bit of twine.  I doodled around the edge of the little birdy image and finished off with the sentiment with inked edges.
And from another angle, there's a little bit of 3D in there - I raised the black mat up on foam dots.  Oh and the little red BBQ has been glossed up, along with dear ol' daddy birdy's green visor.

I have also entered this card in the Digital Tuesday Challenge - #162 Just for Laughs.  Doodle Pantry is sponsoring this challenge, so head on over and join in the fun and you could be the winner of 3 digi stamps!!

If you were celebrating - Happy Father's Day!!

I love the story about your dad loving everything burnt. Thanks for the clarification that thongs are flip-flops in Australia or here in the US we may have been wondering what your mom and dad were up to under the BBQ! LOL

Your card is just perfect - I love what you did with the sketch and the color combo!

Very cute Sarah! BBQ season is just getting started here but we usually grill all year long. It's the only way I can get my DH to cook. LOL! Love your colors and layout! Hope it isn't getting too cold for you!

Great card, love that you added black to the background frame, really pops everything. Wonderful sentiment, it is the philosophy of many and in my case usually unintentional:O)

What a great Father's Day card Sarah, great masculine colours!
We BBQ year round here but only if its just cold, no wind blowing. Last year I think it was -21C and we decided we needed a break so cooked burgers on the BBQ. It works but it takes longer to heat the BBQ, lol, can't imagine why.

I love the sentiment! Your Dad sounds a bit like my 8 year old daugher, she won't eat toast unless it's near enough black! lol
Thanks for joining us at Digital Tuesday.
