An Awesome Award

First of all I want to give a big hello to any visitors who may have ventured here from the lovely blog: The Scrappy Cottage - where Cherrie has featured my blog in her new Feature Friday!!  Welcome, I hope you enjoy your stay, and don't forget to let me know you visited so I can return the favour!  I love finding new blogs, and can't wait to see who is going to be featured next!

Now onto some scrapping....

Back at the end of last year, Amber was chosen for Academic Achievement and given a certificate and a book as her award.  She had no idea she was going to get this award, and her dad and I we even able to attend the awards ceremony that was held in their brand new multi-purpose building.  She was so surprised to see us there, and then to have her name called out was an even bigger surprise!

I am only now getting around to scrapping this wonderful event and am so proud of Amber's achievements so far in school.  In this photo she is standing with her best friend who also received an award on the same day.

I used a Pagemaps sketch for this layout, then rummaged through my stash for some goodies to put on my layout.  There are rub-ons, flowers, cork shapes, an actual tape measure, metal brads, tags, a mini playing card and a bottletop - sort of like the odds and ends you would find in a school desk sometimes!  I loved using this paper - it's as if the page was ripped from a school book with the punching down the side and the ruled lines.

Here's a little closeup of all the little bits and pieces I added.  Sometimes you forget what's in your stash!  I had to hunt to the bottom of baskets, through my self made hang-it-up system, and under some things in my drawers!

You know sometimes just going on a hunt like this sparks inspiration for my next project - you should try it some time!
