Cute Mailbox

I was telling Amber a story a few months back about how my sister and I, when living at home, used to write notes to each other. We lived in separate bedrooms, between us was the toilet, a cupboard and the bathroom. Before my parents had security screens installed the windows had old push out windows. So we attached a piece of string and some clips (to create a pully system), and this way we could send notes to each other along the side of the house! Well Amber loves this story, and the fact that I also built my own mailbox because I had quite a few penpals - so I loved getting mail. Well Amber asked me yesterday if I could make her one, so that she could send mail to us and receive it. After searching google images, and gathering ideas from Amber herself (colours, patterns, theme), this is what I came up with:

I simply used some heavy card, scraps of paper, stamps, brads, some bling that Amber got from her Nan and an Aurora chipboard embellie. Oh and I used some small brass hinges for the door to open. It was so easy I didn't even use a pattern, just my 12inch trimmer and a pencil.

A mailbox has to have matching stationary right? My friend Candace sent me princess stamps - and this is one of them - instant palace notes!
Amber's mailbox was in use the second it was placed in her room - it sits on her bookshelf just inside her door. She loves it! Note to family members - if you want to send Amber mail - I can put it in her mailbox and surprise her!

Sarah~ I also loved your mail story. It reminds me of the simple fun of my childhood. The mail box is too cute. If you could make a metal version, global scrappers everywhere would proudly display them on houses, posts and fences adding scrappy style to their mail.
