First Day of School 2009...

The day has arrived - yes okay we have been counting down, but so has Amber. She couldn't sleep lastnight because she was thinking about today, and then she was up at 5.50am and dressed! Thank goodness we bought her a new bag this year - it has wheels on it! So we could fit all her books in there - but not her lunchbox or drinkbottle. Sophia slept through the entire first day festivities and there were plenty of mums passing on their congrats to us. (Sophia was born a week after school finished last year, so everyone was eager to meet Sophia) Amber is happy her friends are in her class this year and they all chose to sit next to one another. Amber also has a very new teacher - who is new to the school. She is very nice and I'm really glad I made a gift because she probably has first day jitters just like the kids and could do with the choccies! Here's some pictures:

This was outside our front door - Amber refused to go out on the lawn because of the sun (she squints lots and is sensitive to the sun)

Amber was getting annoyed at the sun by now, so this isn't her best smile - but still cute enough for me!

This is the gift I made (we had no idea what teacher we would get so I couldn't add a name) There is 2 boxes of Smarties (because that's what she's teaching), 1 Time Out bar (she'll need a time out by the end of the day), 1 pen (it has 4 colours in it), some chalk and a post-it note book that I made.

This is the box that I created - it was inspired by a fries box. There is green Bazzill on the inside. I punched out a star at the top and doodled around the edges. I created the note paper on the front using lined pp and then punched the holes with my threading water punch (I just trimmed off the scallops). The apple is made from Bazzill and pp then adheared with 3D foam tape. I made a cover for the post-it note pad from green Bazzill, added ribbon and a chipboard sticker. I also doodled around the edge of this too.

I can't wait to hear what Amber got up to for the day - she's supposed to have a new playground this year. Will keep you all posted...
