Ekka Journalling....

So as husbands generally do.... Jas changed his mind about going to Dreamworld on the morning that we were supposed to go!?!?!?! Yep Amber threw a whoppa of a tantrum because she had been looking forward to going all week, and I just shook my head. So off we all went in the car....for 2 hours, yes 2 hours it took to get to the city. It should have only taken 1/2 hour! The traffic was not moving, it was parked then crawling, the whole way to the city and out the other side!!! We finally got to the RBWH and found a 6 story (?) car park and tried our luck there - yeah right. We made it all the way to the top only to find out that 10 car park attendants were actually directing people to park BEHIND all the parked cars (so the cars were parked in their white lines, in rows, and then we were supposed to park behind them blocking them in!) I was like no way Jose! There has to be a fire code breach or weight restriction on these carparks and Jas agreed and said we were going somewhere else. We ended up (after much swearing - by Jas - I just smirked and thought "this was all your idea darling" and kept my nose firmly planted in the Refidex looking for roads that weren't one- way) finally making it back to the Myer Centre where we found a park. We then walked from there to Central Station to catch the train right into the RNA grounds. We so should have taken the train from home - but who am I to say so! Then we began our trek through the side shows, around the ferris wheel, stopped for a compulsory dagwood dog (everyone), waffle cone (for Jas), strawberry sundae only available at the ekka (me)(Photo: http://www.travelblog.org/Photos/1412116.html)
Amber then had a ride on the bumper boats and cars then tried to convince Jas to go on the mega slide - he wasn't in it! So we trekked some more and found ourselves in show bag alley. Amber chose about 10, said she would just take "one of each", but then settled on a Lazy Town bag. Of all the lollies and junk on offer, my princess chooses one with no lollies and only sporty stuff like a ball, frizbee, stop watch, elastics and back pack!
Me on the other hand was happy to buy junk - for $5 I got 3 Bertie Beetle bags - everybody loves Bertie Beetle! For those unaquainted he's a chocolate beetle with bits of Violet Crumble in him! Yum! And he tends to only hang out at shows. So there was our day - very busy, lots of walking and very little waiting for rides, even though it was quite busy. Amber enjoyed every bit of her first Ekka experience - even if it was a last minute decision! Til next year....
